The heroes in all three cases were employees of the company. “You never would have seen this before,” says Jeff. “We as Americans don’t understand how strong the cultural teaching is that goes against this. Traditionally, your resources belong to your family, and only the family. You don’t use personal resources to help strangers.”

Ten years ago the village in which these incidents occurred was home to about 2,000 people. Today about 100,000 people live there. Yet amid the crowds, crime and chaos, people who are learning to serve others in their workplace are also beginning to apply those lessons in the community.
